JB- volume 9 is 150 ; volume ten is 170. The purchasing-power parity figure recently issued by BIS was 169 yen to $. I think we'll see 150 easy short-term , and very possibly 160 before end of summer/early fall. There will be spasms of protest from BOJ , and they will try to screw the market here and there, but the forces of depreciation are virtually unstoppable.
On the point of the trade deficit , we don't sell them all that much anyway. They will buy what they really need, and simply pay more in yen terms to get it. That will repatriate some of those dollars out of their vault into ours.
