IBM/Equifax/Verisign/MSFT/ etc.. are focusing on a different level of certificate technology, that being the personal level which is very "static" (non-dynamic) and complicated. Individuals need to use this level. DVNTF is focusing on the dynamic level, which needs to be non-personal and simple. Wireless devices and smartcards need to use this level, as it's production is inexpensive, easy, very fast and extremely scalable. Summary: IBM/Verisign/MSFT/etc.. are focusing on people, DVNTF is focusing on devices.
