Amen to that Sam!!!

Sam,

Do you know the answer to the following question? When & why did the capital of the roman empire move from Rome to the east. I know Constantine(Roman Emperor when christianity was declared the official religion of the roman empire)built Constantinope for this purpose after visiting Rome--but he never had official residence in Rome, did he? There's a gap in my history timeline as far as this is concerned. My Britannica trial membership elapsed before I filled in this gap:o)

Pontius Pilate was emperor at the time Christ walked the earth; but it wasn't until 400A.D. that christianity became the state religion.
I'm wondering when & why the move to the east occurred(evidently it happened before Constantine's reign.)

TIA if you have the answer.

Ann
