Short squeezes are fun while they last, assuming you're at the right end of the balloon. Merrill Lynch issued a report today with the stock at 11 3/4, reporting on meeting with management: Revised FY 98 EPS to $0.24 and FY 99 to 0.43; at 11.75 that is PE 52.2 on 98 and 31.3 on 99. Tax refund in July qtr of $ 100 mil will help fund stock buyback/retirement. Management's goal is to achieve operating margins of 20% in 18-24 months. Positive comments on beta products and Netware 5 will likely have a year in the market ahead of MSFT. Stock rated accumulate, doubtless expecting further backing and filling. Good recent hires. As days short work off, fuel going forward will have to be fundamental. Entertaining, but so were the Utah Jazz in game 2.
