A few thoughts in reply, electra.... 1) Trade/invest "extensively" part-time before you quit your day job. 2) Read everything you can get your hands on from "really" successful traders...not "book writers" who are only into selling their system. 3) Haunt thestreet.com, read everything Gary Smith writes. Always have CNBC within earshot. 4) Get _completely_ out of debt. 5) Be sure you have enough capital. Seriously. You need several hundred thousand (preferably 500,000+)to even think about doing this, IMHO.... 6) "Know yourself"...do you have the temperament and personality to really do this? Not always an easy question to answer.... I've been doing this full-time (supporting a family of 5) for about a year now, and the mental/emotional side of it is the toughest...(after getting the cash to start)....but, I've no intention of ever going back to wage work.
