Actually, I've even read some writers that claim that the people who trade on inside information are doing the rest of us a favor. The rationale behind this claim is that if they buy shares from people who don't know what the inside information is, the 'insiders' are helping the uninformed, selling shareholders get a better price.

(The first time I read that the insiders who are taking illegal advantage of inside information are really helping people like me, I wondered how people could write such shi*. But later I realized people could write--or believe--anything.

The stock market is a guessing game. But I don't know how much it helps to try to guess what, if any, rumors or events might be behind today's price action in IOM.
