"The focus, not the fury" ------------------------------------------------------------------- Exclusive: GeoCities to File for IPO --------------------- The Silicon Alley Reporter has learned that GeoCities will file for its initial public offering in as soon as the next ten days. An anonymous source privy to the online community's situation reports, "It's a done deal." GeoCities Chairman and Founder Dave Bohnett furthered speculation by declining to speak at the prestigious New York Venture Group dinner last night, citing lawyers advice not to discuss the company. He jokingly added that GeoCities would soon be seeking a "fourth round of financing." Bohnett graciously ceded his speaking position to portal Lycos, which purchased direct GeoCities competitor, Tripod, February 3 of this year for $58 million in stock.
