I guess I owe it to you guys...

I've been teaching biology for 20 years. After having two kids of my own now (one is 2nd grade, the other still in diapers), I find that my attentions are more directed on them than my students. That's the way it should be, but I don't feel good about my performance at work. Wanting to be one of those people who quit and leave rather than quit and stay I decided the best course of action was to say good-bye while I was still doing a good job.

Secondly, I lost both parents in the last 3 years and a couple friends...that has put things into perspective for me. One only goes around once in life and I intend to enjoy every second of it. I am fortunate enough to be able to quit my job and let my intentions fly.
I've always wanted to write without a 8-5 job distracting me. Now I'm going to do it. I don't know if I'll be able to make any money at it, but at this point I don't give a damn...maybe I will in 4 years, but not now.

As soon as the cobwebs clear from my brain, I'll be picking up several projects again...one a nonfiction book on the chaparral environment (flora and fauna + some geology) and the other a fictional story. All totally far afield from investing...which is why I must let go of the market...too distracting.

Remember when Curly held up his finger in City Slickers and said the secret of life was ONE thing? I'm doing that now; my ONE thing.

Take care folks, and good luck.
