Jeff, Re: "On the FTC clip I was struck that the
primary effect is that the FTC & DOJ are getting quite a "forced" education about
technology."

They are sorely needing some education about technology. I saw a clip of Attorney General Dennis Vacco, New York state, in which he said in so many words that Microsoft was a bad guy because they didn't want to allow small software companies to bootstrap their software onto Microsoft's operating system. I haven't heard the word bootstrap used in about five years. Boot, or boot up, OK, but bootstrap has gone the way of minicomputers, or PL1, or something. Worse, bootstrap isn't even the right word. Integrate is, and you would think a politician (OK lawyer) would have heard of this word.

If this guy Vacco, granted probably devoid of any self taught technology knowledge, can't even get an up to date computer literate to debrief him, God help us in any of these gummint vs. industry cases. Fortunately, as we heard Andy Grove say at the stockholders' meeting, all Intel employees have been studying and learning anti-trust theory for the past 12 years, and, hopefully, practicing same.
