Thanks for responce on short stock, sell put. My problem with my broker is that he will let me short the stock just fine, no problem. However, he says I am not approved to sell a put against the short stock. (But I can buy the stock and sell the call)

According to him, if I want to short stock and sell a put against it, I have unlimited risk from the put not the stock - and in order to do that I have to apply for the margin level which allows naked puts. I told him he was seriously confused but it did not matter.
