I wouldn't exactly call less than 18ms "slow"... thats still a 3600 rpm spindle speed, faster than I thought it would be initially. I recently paid about $300 for a jazz drive with only 1 gig per platter. One Gig Jazz media are about $100 a disk, so this media is certainly cheaper per MB than that... The question mark is how expensive is the media? The price tag takes it out of the "cheap" system arena, but it should be a good choice for small server backups... if media won't break the bank. It could be an "OK" only drive for a medium price tag system...It has the potential to limit Iomega's future sales of Jazz, and ought to make them drop their prices to compete. Compared to tape drive access, its a barn burner. As I mentioned a long time ago, the bottleneck is getting the data off of the disk... 40MB per second is right up there.
