Company Press Release

Grand Central Silver Will Not Proceed On Joint Venture With Nevada Star Resources

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 9, 1998--Grand Central Silver Mines (NASDAQ: GSLM - news) Tuesday announced that the company has decided not to proceed with a joint venture with Nevada Star Resources (VSE:NEV - news) on its copper holdings located near Milford, Utah.

The company controls various patented claims, unpatented claims, and leasehold interests in the Milford area which contain known copper mineralization.

The two companies had negotiated a joint venture to consolidate their respective land holdings in the district and were conducting feasibility studies to place the properties into production. However, no final joint venture agreement had been signed.

The board of Grand Central decided not to proceed when it became apparent that all the conditions necessary to finalize the agreement could not be met in a timely fashion.

Grand Central Silver will continue to evaluate its options with respect to its Milford holdings. For further information please contact John Ryan at 208/769-7340.
