<Why would a company pay for all these expensive Office upgrades, if they can install a SuiteSpot-based intranet and integrate their existing Office suite into Communicator for under $100 per seat servers, clients and all?><Seems like Mary Meeker is on to something here.>

Since you're trying to bait the answer out of me.... Once you install suite spot for $100 per seat (I doubt if corporations will pay as much as you paid Bill, I know you get a lot of respect out there but you did only buy one copy), how are they going to use Suitespot to force their company-wide Access Jet database engine on to the server to respond to live queries. Are they going to rewrite the whole database, using Sybase products and Live Wire Pro. How about the different databases each employee may have. To gain the functionality of Access 97 through suitespot (assuming you have an access legacy DBMS), you will spend more than $0-$100 per seat (the approximate difference of Suitespot and Office in a corporate purchase).

After your marketing staff has purchased Suitespot, and installed it on everybodies desk. How are they going to transform the 500 salespersons Powerpoint presentations into web ready, animated material. Powerpoint '97 offers frames, button bars, directories, and full animation fot web presentations at the touch of an "export" button and wizard. I suppose after installing suitespot, you will have somebody go behind each installation with a Macromedia Director authoring package to assist the salesforce in the conversion (at an average of 5-10 hours per conversion).

<I really don't care about most of the new features like autoformatting, or angled headers.>

Maybe not, but Excel 97 can search the net for data and update the sheets contents with said data (in real time if I'm not mistaken, Lotus 123 definitely does real time connections). This would supply an extreme competitive advantage to say, a Morgan Stanley trader who need not wait for his IS department and analsyst to rebuild his real time trading software every time he needs a modification, or the institutional portfolio manager who can rebalance his bond portfolio in real time using his excel spread sheet and home grown functions instead of purchasing an $8,000 package from some outside vendor. Then again he can just use suite spot and save that $80 dollars.

I can go on with additional scenarios....

I am sure NSCP will not disappoint with Suitespot, they know better than to put out a mediocre product at this important juncture in the competitive race. You cannot compare suitespot to the office suites offered by Lotus or MSFT, though, for the suites have much more inherent functioanlity built in. To extend this functionality to the web is easier than attemtpting to either build it from scratch or use an outside product to artificially extend it.

If Mary Meeker disagrees, tell her to give me a call and we'll disuss it over luch.
