My latest update from what has been a reliable source. ASRF is in the process of licensing the use of their technology to build and sell 'stand alone' alkaline fuel cells. The licensing will be for both 1 and 2 kilowatt hour units at a dollar rate per kilowat. This new firm is to be called Astris Technology Corp - a draft press release has been passed around that announces this deal. The plan is to build a plant north of Toronto and a financing for US $10 millions should also be announced in July 1998. Detailed budgeting for this new project is complete or nearly so. Sales efforts will be to golf cars, small cars and stand alone emergency power units. Each buyer will buy their own hydrogen in the same manner as propane for a bbq. This group have converted the 'minicar' (childs Jeep that hold 2 youngsters) and is agressively showing it. Also, ASRF is in discussion with a major Canadian energy firm as a source of funds to build a plant to manufacture the guts of the fuel cell i.e. the anonde and cathod and materials put on them all encased in a sort of a clear plastic container.
