First chance I've had to sit down and review the events of the day
and FWIW a couple of comments.

James Sierk had left me with the impression that the
direction IOM had taken was solid. I was at first perplexed
as to why he didn't take the opportunity to tout Clik! or any
of the other products that IOM is involved with.
I was disappointed, but after thinking about just what the
appearance was about things made more sense.

Just a week ago Kate Bonner had really trashed IOM
about it's Zip drive problems. Well James responded,
telling us that not only is their quality good but they are
making it better and in fact good enough for the largest
computer manufacturer in the world to make Zip standard !!

Now I wanted to hear about these new neat little products
that were touted in their PC EXPO 98 news release.
Despite much prodding this crafty guy didn't spill the
beans and left us hanging. So to be continued at PC EXPO.

I believe what we are seeing is the direct response by OEM's
to the price reductions to the channel. IOM is going after
the market in the way I was calling for.
Compaq isn't a slouch they're the largest and with Dell,
Micron, Gateway etc, etc selling Zip drives as standard
fare how long can the others ignore the popularly of Zip
and isolate themselves.

It's amazing that even though IOM is so beat up
as soon as there's a hint of good news everyone wants
in.. You would think that everyone's afraid of it leaving
the station without them ; )
