Teri,

The SIA said it expects to see all markets regain momentum in 1998's third quarter as increased use of the Internet should boost demand for personal computers.

This is difficult to believe. What is supposed to generate increased interest in the Internet later this year? I think the Internet has been a big reason the Sub-1000 PC market has done well up to now but there is no reason to expect there to be additional demand momentum because of it after nine months of bargain PC pricing (at least in the US). If there are better results in the third quarter it will be because inventory in the channel has been drawn down or demand has increased normally as it does towards the end of the year.

Dave
