Hope we're talking to Dell... even if their button dropped out of site... ********************** Compaq Markets Presario as PC for the Net Compaq Computer Corporation (CPQ) Tuesday showed a new line of Internet-ready computers featuring a keyboard preset to launch e-mail, Web searches, and other features. The new Presario line comes with an America Online (AOL) icon on the desktop, as well as a $100 rebate for customers who sign up for a free trial of Compaq's own new Internet access service. Compaq is hoping to make $1 billion a year in fees from Internet service providers and online services. The company announced a multiyear agreement with AOL, under which it will receive fees based on how much Presario owners use the service, the Wall Street Journal reported. "We've focused on placing connectivity front and center," Compaq consumer division chief Rod Schrock said. "That's going to drive sales now."
