I'm looking at 9 real-time candlestick charts, matching time & sales, quick quotes, and (for critical stocks) L2. In addition I have composite windows containing tick & trin, dow /Nasdaq /S&P and other indices such as sox, osx, bix, etc, etc. Finally, I have a Minder which lists all stocks and associated trading data in which I have an interest.

With refurb 21" monitors available thru Dell and Micron plus availablity for $600-900 through the on-line auction houses such as ONSALE, why not? Even if one did not want to run as many charts as I do, then I'd have other apps showing up on one or more of the monitors, e.g., Yamner's chatroom.

After hours I frequently have 3-4 full size IE and Netscape windows open where I'm handling my e-mail, reading SI threads, looking at the NY Times, WSJ and San Jose Mercury News (Silicon Valley) business sections, updating and working on MetaStock charts, etc. Being able to leave everything "as is" and never having to minimize an app (until the start of the next trading day) to work on some other app is a HUGE convenience.

On my back-up system, I run Track On-Line purely for quote data to make sure I don't go blind when something happens with my brokerage's system, plus two chat rooms, one of which is Steve Goldman's.

Hope this helps.
