Analysts Regaining Confidence In PC DOCS Group

Dow Jones Newswires

TORONTO -- PC DOCS Group International Inc. (DOCSF) shares rose 4.74% Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange, as some observers believe the prospects of the Toronto data management company continue to improve.

"The industry continues to show good signs of growth," said Pierre Boucher, analyst with HSBC Securities. "People are slowly regaining confidence in this story."

Midland Walwyn Capital Corp. analyst Alex Baluta has enough confidence that he boosted his rating on the stock Tuesday to "accumulate." He wouldn't provide his price target for the stock.

PC DOCS competitors include Documentum Inc. (DCTM), Filenet Corp. (FILE) and Open Text Corp. (OTEXF). PC DOCS newly acquired Fulcrum subsidiary competes with Verity Inc. (VRTY).

Both Baluta and Boucher are hoping PC DOCS will provide some short-term guidance about its financial results towards the end of the week. New PC DOCS chief financial officer Dennis Moir confirmed that that will be the case.

But Baluta said this shouldn't be construed as meaning the company will guide analysts to expect higher earnings for the fourth quarter. PC DOCS' Moir was just hired in April and until now has hesitated to provide guidance until he is settled at the company.

As well, when the company reported its third-quarter results last month, it said it needed more time before it gave guidance about the process of integrating Fulcrum.

PC DOCS reported a third-quarter operating profit of 10 Canadian cents a share. Neither Baluta nor Boucher wanted to discuss their projections until after they meet the company's management.
