NHBob, a brief on TRIN.

First of all, TRIN is a "General" market indicator, rather than one used for specific stocks.

TRIN stands for Trader's Index.

which is calculated as:
(adv/decl) / (adv vol/decl vol) and is detrended as a 10 day simple moving average for presentation.

TRIN is mostly used by day traders trading the OEX options, since it is very volatile and useful for only ultra short term trade positions. As such I use it not at all, and pay it only a cursory attention to help gage short term market sentiment. I've never used it to help make a trade decision on a stock.
