Well, believe it or not, I do have a pilot's license. Gawd, maybe there is psychological correlation.

I have thought about a PC-TV card, but I've got a small TV sitting just to the left of my monitors. I guess I'd just as soon not consume the extra PC slot.

No incompatibilities with apps. But I did have a problem on install on an AMI BIOS machine. No trouble at all on a Phoenix BIOS machine.

Actually, all my Hitachi and Sony monitors but one were purchased new -- just lucked out on the pricing. Can't tell the difference between the Micron refurb Hitachi and the new Hitachis. Don't forget that the video card (refresh rates, etc.) has a lot to do with monitor "quality". The Sony Trinitron does appear somewhat more "brilliant" than the Hitachi but that may be just because I've never spent much time mucking around with the contrast / brightness controls of any of them. Everything was satisfactory right out of the box.

I mentioned the refurb programs because so many people are leery of buying used, big monitors and feel they can't afford new ones. Dell, Micron and others have legitimzed the refurb business at prices that anyone can afford. But you can frequently find brand new monitors through ONSALE and the like, for even less than the factory refurbs.

Saw a Nokia 21" with built in camera go for less than a grand. Gee, if SI added real-time video and we all upped for such a monitor, the mind boggles at what we would think watching one another. Can you imagine watching Steve and Darren hammering on each other????? (vbg)
