A Little Bit More About CPQ Presario Keyboard...

From today's (a-hem) Houston Chronicle, this bit
about Compaa Presario's "portal on the keyboard"
idea...

"...Each machine comes with a keyboard with four buttons
that surround the word "Internet." Compaq touts the buttons
as being easy to use, and they are pre-programmed to go
to the various sitess that Compaq has made deals with.
Changing what the buttons do is relatively, simple
allowing users to have their own preferred sites..."

Note that the buttons themselves aren't branded...
like a Yahoo! button or AOL button... after all that
would LOCK IN A DEAL... and there are no locked-in
deals in the great Middle Eastern bazaar that is
the Web...

Kudos to CPQ for finding another source of
revenue... selling board estate... pretty darned
ingenious... considering this is the company that
has been horribly outflanked by DELL on all counts...

Best Regards, SEEKers,
