Given sufficient working capital and a vision for the future, a development effort properly managed could lead to a very marketable product. But this takes time, talent, and a lot of money and patience. I have only a very limited knowledge of the technical talent available within SEXI, but I feel their thrust is to develop a system acting as a systems integrator-i.e. connecting up other companies' products into a working system. Within the video vendor community, there is some evidence that SEXI is-in only one effort (they could have several independent systems underway) integrating a switch from Sigma Electronics, a "line driver" called Isthmus from a Japanese company and a Pixel Video capture board and a Zydacom single board codex. This combination will work. What it will not do is to utilize twisted pair telephone wire in a "campus environment". A simplified form of this system was demonstrated by SEXI at its suite across the street from the Washington convention center last summer. In that system, an 8-port Sigma switch whose ports were connected to the Isthmus drivers via co-ax cable, thence to the remote PC via LAN cable. This configuration will deliver 30 fps full color, full motion video but not over twisted pair telephone cable which is what the literature they handed out in their beautiful book on the floor of the Convention Center.
