Hello Eric: From a technical analysis point of view, if NOVL can close (and this is a big if) above 12.4 then the company is either in play or the fundamentals have improved drastically. This is the magic level. Any move above this will make me a big time believer. One other clue as to the validity of buy-out talk would be if the earnings came in below expectations and the stock sold off only to recover by the end of the day.
