We love our Jews.

JPR:

Oh sure we like our Jews, the Arabs and all them Paradesis. We are really sorry to see a lot of Jews go back after 2000 years. As a matter of fact we have a sect of Christians called 'Knanaya Christians' whose forefathers said to have emigrated to Kerala between 1st century AD and 52 Ad from Palestine and other areas of the region like Syria. They still keep their traditions alive through their various ceremonies in their church,a lot of it is similar to old Jewish traditions. As you know we also have Syrian Christians.

All these various people were well received by the Maharajas of the time and were accorded special protection. Many of the old Churches in the state were built by the Hindu Maharajas of the time as gifts including the Synagogue.I am sure this is the case with Muslims as well. There are and were many prominent Muslims in Kerala whose forefathers said to have come from the Middle East, prominent among them is the Musaliar family.Thangal Kunju Musaliar was a wealthy business man and philanthropist who built many educational institutions in Kerala,TKM Engineering college in Kollam (Quilon) is one among them. They all have contributed immensely to the local society by building many educational institutions, hospitals and other charitable organizations.

As an aside,I don't know why would Jews from India go back to Israel as my Jewish friends tell me there are subtle or unspoken prejudice in Israel between various ethnic Jews, particularly the European Jews and the ones from Middle East.I don't know this is true but this is what they tell me.

PS:I thought 'Paradesi' meant 'foreigner' or people from overseas in
Sanskrit,no???
