Some good points, some misleading points....

SOE video hub's line drivers can be linked and drived 8000 ft w/o a PC in the middle. I've seen it done. We had two reels of my 4000 foot UTP CAT-3 cable with line drives in the middle (back to back) and line drivers on both ends (one at the hub and the other 8000 foot away at the terminating PC. Broadcast quality NTSC video was the result w/o any shadows or ghost images.

Buildings, even old buildings, have within them UTP (unshielded twisted pair) copper Category 3 (CAT-3). Many LANS terminated these on the 8 pair RJ-45 type connector. Guest which connector SOE video hub uses? Yes your right RJ-45 just like the data LAN. Now you can either use the data LAN for the video (should be at least 100 Mbps) or you can run the SOE video hub as a seperate video lan and leave you 10 Mbps Ethernet lan alone until your MIS tech upgrades to the 20th century.
