Laughing, laughing, laughing......
Great find Henry.
Quite appropriately posted today, as today is the start of this month long extravaganza. (the World Cup). Brazil -vs- Scotland; and Morocco -vs- Norway.
At the same time it is shameful that some of these "derelicts" actually become very successful in this sport.
Someone said that
"Rugby is a rough sport for gentlemen and Soccer is a gentlemen's sport for roughs..... So what can one expect...
My favorite ones (from your find):
--------
"I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered." - George Best
Z Comment: --("birds" in British is equivalent to the term "broads" in American)--
--------
"That's great, tell him he's Pele and get him back on." - John Lambie, Partick Thistle manager, when told a concussed striker did not know who he was.
Z Comment: Pel‚ (a Brazilian player), is considered to be the best soccer player ever. "Striker" is a forward position in a soccer team, usually the one that scores most of the goals.
--------
And the best of them all:
"If the players want to make it hard for me, I am happy to make it twice as hard for them."
- Wendy Toms, the first female referee to officiate in a professional game
Z. Comment: *no comment*...
---------------
Once you read these quotes, (mostly from English fans/commentators/players/trainers, it is easy to understand (however, not approve), of the violence that English soccer "fanimals" are capable of.
Thank you for the excellent find, please post it on the World Cup Thread here: (you deserve the credit).
