Elsewher on the BB you talk to MSU's quad splitters and codecs. I could not quite make out what you were trying to say. An MSU-Multipoint Control Unit is a system emplyed by trasmission carries to switch high speed streams of data.In an analog system the use of such a device would require conversion of the analog signal into digital format and then the digital signal be compressed with whatever algorithm that device employed before it could then be sent on its way. Same at the recieve ends of each connected party. Why would SEXI be doing anything with codexc's when so many vendors are already in that market place. Stand alone codecs as emplyed in video teleconferencing systems all include analog input/output ports ans well as digital input/output ports. Ergo it is childs play to use such
a unit to transmit an analog NTSC input across the world. However the frames per second received at the distant end does not necessarily correlate with the 30 frame per second analog input. The received rate is a funtion of the particular codec used and the bandwidth of the connected transmision medium.
Now for the "Quad" unit you referred to. The is a device which accepts multiple video inputs and outputs a combined video presentation. This allows a person in a teleconference to see-on his singl monitor screen-the video image of the persons he's connected to. The industry leader in this areana is Kalcom whose units can place 4 or any multi[ple of 4 windows if you will on a single monitor screen. The use of a quad splitter is not conditioned on tha availablity of an MSU and vice versa. A system can employ both, either or none depending on the requirement. There are even single board codecs available today which are PC mountable -leading this technology is Zydacrom in Manchester N.H. I will call Charley French an authorized reseller of this product to determine if your company has purchased this item.
Your technical presentations,at least to me,are somewhat difficult to comprehend unless what you are talking about is a digital system and not an analog system. The use of the Isthmus line driver with the Sigma Electronics switch with co-ax cable and LAN cabling is not at all the capability previously advertised by SEXI as their unique system. Please remebr associated costs of installation for video teleconferencing equipment can be more than the cost of the equipment especially for systems which require LAN cables to be strung within the walls of a building or across a Campus. In addition your reference to distances cover by SEXI line driver-if true-would be a true technology breakthru. The Lightwave line driver delivers 30fps,full motion full color NTSC-Audio- over maximum of 4000 feet of twisted wire pair telephone wire. TNo repeater can be inserted in a line so equipt to derive the 8000 feet in that system. Perhaps what you meant to say that two properly equipt PC's connected to a matrix switch thru line drivers at both ends of the telephone wire (4000 ft) could video conference thereby actually be spanning the 8000 ft line distance between them. I would be very happy if you could advise me the source of the repeater I could use it in systems I integrate for my clients and save them a lot of money.
