Maybe we should put the question the other way - is anyone having difficulties shorting? I don't think this is fundamentally a short squeeze, though that adds some spice - this is a major vote of confidence in Amzn by big institutional investors. They're piling in. If I'm right about that, the money is slightly less speculative than day traders and momentum players and will stay in a little longer than manipulators engineering a short squeeze. However, it is still speculative! This is the big bubble and internet stocks are its favorites. Remember K-tel? Riley, the "analyst," set a target of 100 when it was around 30; the street bought on command and pushed it to 75 within days.

We now have a target of 88, and are up from 41 to 55 in a few days - sorry, make that 56. Nice base forming at 55. What's wrong with going up 10% a day for a few more days? What's stopping us? Greenspan has just waved the green flag; earnings are so uncertain in the case of Amzn that we are free to imagine what we like.

Now, I think this is behavior that comes before a crash, but so far I'm the poorer for it.
