Thanks...
I played ONE rugby game in England, (and a few American Football games), after which, I decided that my life (and body), were destined [and better built] for Soccer, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and played for many years until my right knee exploded.
To this day, it is unexplainable to me the utter desire for self destruction in the game of Rugby, I remember I went to Twickenham stadium once to watch an international game England -vs- France (England won), the atmosphere was excellent and very cordial, amazingly, without the violence that always seemed to lurk in some Soccer games.
In the game program (a small booklet), 95% of the pictures of the players, displayed, [proudly I will add], their lack of teeth, no doubt, lost in the battlefield of Rugby. That impressed me to this day.
I must admit that watching the movie "Braveheart" reminded me of one gigantic Rugby match, indeed the characters looked much like Rugby players....
I am certain you must be the exception that confirms the rule.
I enjoy watching the game, safely, away from the pitch, I guess it is the morbid nature in me, watching "others" bash themselves in, to a pulp. Same goes for Boxing (Muhammed Ali, in particular), and American Football, (at least they have the common sense(!) of using protective gear...). I only watch the important ones, such as World Cups, Super Bowl, World Championships and the like. On weekends I have better things to do though.
Baseball, (much like Cricket), bores me to death. Sometimes I think that criminals, sentenced to "life without possibility of parole", should also be obligated to watch, endlessly, a combination of Baseball games, (World Series excepted), and Cricket matches.
Anyway, thanks again for the post.
