In-ground assets are only worth money if 1) they are sold, or 2) they are mined.

I suppose that true - although the IRS may not think so :)

Not to me. I do not consider book value, revenues, earnings or any other accounting term to mean the same thing simply because it is a financial term. Review the thread - it has been clear to most everybody that we have been discussing book value for this company.
