Scangraphics Unit, Sedona GeoServices Inc. Announces Support For Oracle8 Spatial And Image Data Cartridges
LIMERICK, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 10, 1998--
SpatialVision(TM) empowers line-of-business application users bringing
Geographic Information Systems capabilities to the desktop/laptop
Sedona GeoServices Inc., a subsidiary of Scangraphics(R) Inc. (NASDAQ: SCNG), Wednesday announced the integration of SpatialVision(TM) with Oracle Corp.'s (NASDAQ: ORCL) Spatial and Image Data Cartridges for Oracle8(TM).
SpatialVision's features take full advantage of Oracle's Network Computing Architecture(TM), affording the Oracle8 user with easy access to dynamic, geographically changing information.
"SpatialVision provides the help desk operator or sales support administrator with the necessary tools on their desktops or laptops for answering complicated questions from the field," said Scangraphics CEO Larry Osterwise. "Retrieving the data quickly is only one part of the equation. Interpreting the information returned so the correct answer can be given is key. SpatialVision's unique data visualization capability makes this a snap."
SpatialVision incorporates many major attributes of Oracle's Network Computing Architecture with comprehensive support for both Spatial and Image Data Cartridges. As a series of JavaBeans(TM) components, using Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: SUNW) Java(TM) development platform, SpatialVision unifies the desktop with application data and makes it available via the Internet.
The easy to use GUI permits simple construction and execution of complex queries. Integrated mapping and imaging tools allow for customization of the geospatial data to meet display, analysis, and output requirements. A context sensitive HTML hyper-help capability supports all functions.
"Sedona is a wonderful addition to our application-provider family because of their experience in geographic information systems and their growing knowledge of the services industry," stated Mike Hallett, vice president Americas Alliances, Oracle Corp. "The ability to map customer demographics to points of service is a powerful tool for sales teams, field service groups, and customer service operations in the financial services, telecommunications, and insurance industries."
"SpatialVision's ease of use, low cost of operation, and seamless integration into mainstream applications are critical features giving the Oracle8 Universal Server a bridge to the desktop," explained Sedona president Colin Matthews. "In this way, SpatialVision provides an easy to use interface for the non-GIS expert and brings a robust yet intuitive analytical capability to the knowledge worker."
Oracle currently has an installed user base in excess of 14 million seats. In a recent survey of Oracle users, over 5% responded positively with the intention to implement the Spatial Cartridge option of Oracle8.
SpatialVision is expected to ship in the third quarter of this year. To learn more about Sedona's SpatialVision, visit our Web site at: www.sedonageo.com |
