CC--Westell was late to the horn. Nelson not Zionts showed. Nothing astounding.

1. No mass market this year.
2. They'll support a DMT interoperability camp later this year.
3. In the short term it's CAP & DMT.
4. They're high on their DSLAM access multiplexor and the Total Access Product recently announced.
5. BA is their biggest customer in 'collaboration' with DSC. Internationally their working with Fujitsu, BT, and in the Far East.

I actually like this new cold, sober, controlled presentation of Westell compared to the (IMO) childish rah rahs of '97. Westell won't disappear. They'll get their share of the pie---when their is pie!

And, from Photon Valley came Lucent with an interesting presentation:
If you think you're late to the ADSL party (how can that be?) get a load of these minds.
1. Terra-bit networks not too far off (anyone care to conjecture what 'not too far off' is?)
2. The barriers to optical (phontonic) networking are political not technical.
3. Has the 'overprovisioning' of Project Oxygen begun?

Almost forgot. Earlier ALA spoke. They called their ADSL strategy a
'controlled introduction'. Isn't that the truth?
1. Their target--the carriers
2. Their interoperability partners: 3-Comm, Hayes, Intel, & Compact.
3. When mentioning Canadian alliances he notably omitted BC
4. When asked about the 'future'--Photonic Switch.

I was watching the World Cup too so I'm sure I missed something!
