>>Southern California seasons....FIRE, FLOOD/MUD SLIDES, QUAKES, RIOT.
I arrived in 1992 and in 1993 we had the so-called Malibu fire, that was something to behold and it came within a mile of my house. Floods and mud-slides--more or less a regular event. Quakes -- yes, the Northridge quake. Missed the riots, though--it was a year before I arrived. I know that during the OJ trial, when there was speculation that a "guilty" verdict could cause riots, someone from the East Coast, asked me if I was concerned about it and I said I was not--because the rioters would never find their way to my house:)
Now that is not to mention, a couple of rattle snakes in my yard, sighting a mountain lion while hiking, and so forth!
So I guess that I have seen it all-- the only thing missing so far has been "pestilence"!!
But despite it all--I have a love/hate relationship with the place!
I guess that I am a bit of a masochist! |
