I actually think half of the problem about "Y2K Awareness" is that unscrupulous individuals have used the hype to feather their own nests by using the age old sales hype - the market is worth $XXXX and if we could get just 1% of it we will be the next Bill Gates.

Caveat emptor (or something like that).
