TheDuke: "Why else would Bear Stearns be the largest U.S. creditor of Solv-ex?" Because Bear Stearns has a division that does just that, buy up claims from creditors prior to bankruptcy hearings. There was an article about this business in a recent issue of Forbes.

I remain amazed how many people here think that short sellers made Solv-Ex take a huge amount of money and throw it down a rathole.
