Auric, You don't have a clue how a "buy in" works, but you will...
"Buy ins" do not occur at the bid. Give me a break! That's where people sell stock, if you haven't noticed. "Buy ins" occur at wherever the stock can be purchased and in this case that is likely to require a "block bid". Do you know the difference between a "block bid" and the "bid" as in "bid and offer"?

A "buy in" is a penalty to the firm that caused the problem (the firm that's short and can't deliver the certificates). If your claim was the case, why would a short squeeze ever occur? The "buy ins" won't occur if your firm (suspected as being Fannystock) can deliver the certificates to those firms you sold short too. The problem is.........you can't! So, one of two things is likely to happen. 1) Multiple buy ins, as in block bids for all the shares owed on certain dates. 2) A short squeeze in which your firm will be required to take out the offers until you can deliver the certificates owed (everyday). WOW, what would that do to the stock?

Don't you just hate it when John Q. Public has to teach you "professionals" your own game? God, I love America!

This reminds me of when you were babeling about retail accounts being able to short bulletin board stocks. You have much to learn, Auric. Unfortunately, it appears that your firm will be paying this bill. I hope you still have a job!

Sleep well this eve......

Best of Luck, Greg
