Another Divicom partner has a satellite modem........................
(See Divi does the internet over satellite)

ComStream, an international provider of digital transmission solutions
for data, voice, audio, and video applications, announced a new
satellite modem.

The CM801 is the newest product in ComStream's modem family, and is
designed to operate in both open and closed networks. Based on the
industry-standard CM701, the CM801 features an innovative and
cost-effective L-band transmit/receive interface, and an on-board high
stability reference capacity to ensure satellite frequency accuracy. A
new, more robust power supply has also been integrated into the modem to
support outdoor power requirements, eliminating the need for an
external, stand-alone power source.

The CM801 operates at up to 2.3 Mbps and is backward compatible with
ComStream's CM701. This modular approach simplifies sparing requirements
and minimizes network expenditures as CM701 option cards can be used in
the CM801. Five spare slots, as opposed to two slots in the CM701,
provide for even greater network versatility, enabling end-users to add
a wider variety of enhancements quickly and easily. A lower speed, lower
cost modem, the CM601, rounds out ComStream's product family.

According to ComStream president and chief executive officer, Robert B.
Clasen, the CM801 is one of many new products the company plans to
launch this year. ''We're listening to our customers and using our years
of experience to deliver exactly what they need to compete --
cost-effective, flexible products with high reliability,'' said Clasen.
''At the same time, we're protecting their investment by ensuring
compliance with open standards, and providing a path for future
growth.'' Products in development include a fully integrated 2w Ku band
earth station.

The new CM801 is a two cable, two card configuration modem that includes
a modulator, demodulator, RS-422/449 data interface, doppler buffer,
BERT, high stability reference capability and a high performance power
supply. Satellite RF frequency agility across the entire satellite
bandwidth is accomplished through a direct L-band IF frequency
translation. A product data sheet, along with a CM801 Q&A, can be
obtained by visiting ComStream's website: www.comstream.com.
