Robert, I Couldn't Agree More About NBC Deal... What I missed in the initial coverage, I found in today's WSJ... " ... NBC had in fact been in serious discussions over the last several months with Yahoo, Excite, and Infoseek Corp. about buying large stakes..." I know this bit must have been in the initial releases... but I scanned right past it. The enormity of the deal, obviously, ISN'T in the fact that SEEK was on their short list... but I was heartened to see the SEEK name nonetheless. That NBC's deal falls so quickly on the heels of one of Harmon's columns about "media companies"... I guess is just another case of a fortunate coincidence. So, shall we expect CBS for dinner... the very same CBS who's been mulling over spinning their MarketWatch out as the next high-flying IPO...? One thing can be said now without hesitation... EVERYBODY IS TALKING TO EVERYBODY ABOUT DEALS ON THE WEB... so... NOBODY should be ruled out... except of course for Zapata, I suppose... Best Regards, SEEKers, c m
