You're right about not being certain of Amati's involvement, but given Pat's prospective mention of Hong Kong and Amati in August and other items, the probability seems quite high to me. I may be slightly ahead of myself since there has yet to be confirmation, though. As for:

I not sure exactly what you mean because a paragraph of the anouncement was dedicated to the explanation of how VDSL tied to their Broadband system:

<<Broadband access network systems (FTTB:Fiber To The Building /VDSL: Very high-speed Digital Subscribers Line) which transmit the multimedia data to households, including the network management system. FTTB system transmits Multimedia data in ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) from the central office to the buildings / apartment houses by fiber cables, and then they are distributed to each household using VDSL, a 52 Mbps transmission technology over existing metallic pair cable.>>
