Warnings Update

We promised occasional warnings updates this quarter, and here's another quick one. Earnings warning season has not yet hit full stride, but the pace is quickening. For Q2, we have now seen 30 warnings from tech companies and 38 warnings from non-tech. By the end of the comparable week last quarter, we had seen 20 tech and 10 non-tech. The pace of warnings, needless to say, is much worse this quarter. The caveat is that the names aren't as big. No Intels or Compaqs this quarter. Sure, we got MOT, but they warn every quarter. The table below compares tech and non-tech warnings for comparable weeks in Q1 and Q2. As you can see, the worst is probably yet to come.
