CA interest in Novell is quite plausible IMHO.

Novell is at a crossroads between traditional client/server environments
and new Web technologies whether they are applied to the Internet or the
intranet. CA has until recently targeted the high end market. However, that
is starting to change with the recent acquisition of Chayenne Software, and
the recently announced creation of a new CA division, to be known as
NetHaven, which will be dedicated specifically to the rapidly growing
Internet/intranet market.

I would not be at all surprised if CA made a play for Novell at some point.

Another company that fits right into this same picture is Centura Software.
Novell has long demonstrated its interest in the Centura technology and
already owns about 10% of the CNTR stock; and CA not only has about
10,000 copies of SQLwindows already, but they apparently like CNTR so
much they have even loaned them $10 million dollars to keep them working
on the new Centura technology.

If CA took over Novell and Centura, it would be well positioned to expand its
reach deep into the C/S and Internet/intranet markets. Novell still owns the
lion's share of the NOS segment. Centura and its award winning SQL product
line plus its new Java development tool are well positioned to take advantage
of the rapidly growing demand for Internet/intranet development tools. What
a combination this makes for Computer Associates!

If you are interested in the Novell-CA connection, then you can't miss the
"Centura Software Corporation (NASDAQ:CNTR)" thread. It can be found in
the "Five Dollars and Under" category of the "Misc" section.

Thank you all and have a happy Thanksgiving!
