You mean you'd actually buy a stock with a trend line going up!! What a novel
investing strategy. I thought we all had to try to "pick" the bottom of
the ski slope. Seriously, good advise for going with proven winners.
I just bought more Boeing, having first bought it in '92 at $36. I am
more comfortable with the JNJ's, EK, State ST Banks, etc. But the spirit of
the gambler remains, so i own NOVL, and DIGI and just bought AOL, again.
Periodically I trade Micron Tech, and Spectran, etc.
Long term, i have done much better with the "buy and hold good names in uptrends"
strategy. But occassionally i need to develope tax losses, so i venture into
"pick the bottom of a falling stone" strategy" - and get more tax write offs.
My favorite "serious" picks right now are EDS and PEPsi (got something against
Coke i guess). I am a broker and have been recommending EDS and PEP as
year end plays of great companies in temporary swoons. Believe in or not there
are some people who still invest other then in mutual funds. What are
your favorites right now. Where would you put new money if you were to
invest today? Larry Shapiro
