Eric- I came across this item which only gives me a maybe about
Intel's ownership interest in Be Inc.

Porting the OS to Intel has apparently made the
company an appealing investment to another set of
investors. On Tuesday, the company closed a
second round of venture capital financing, securing
$25 million in funds, according to a spokesperson.
He declined to comment on whether Intel had
invested in the company.

It would make sense because Intel's buddy Bill seems to think that
multiple processors are only for the high end while the low end
is uniprocessor only.

It reminds me of the 50's when Detroit was selling tons of
obsolescent junk. Then the Japanese came in with quality cars.
You just drove one and could see the enormous difference and
couldn't wait to tell all your friends and neighbors.

Well right now I'm driving a 1998 BeOS with dual P-166 Cpu's
and the performance and workmanship is exquisite. I could
use a SIMM stick with 8 or 16 P-233 MMX .18 CPU's if you know
where I could pick one up.
