Roger and Amster., the prices of the "purchases" were no lower than $4.94, so for them to be option exercises, they would have to have been expiring right at a time when $4.94 was in-the-money. Otherwise, why exercise? I doubt anybody's options would be expiring and the stock did not spend more than a few days above the prices shown when the purchases were made (March, I think it was). These were certainly open market purchases.
