Thanks, Bob. Although the ema problem may account for some of the problems we are seeing when we run our scans, I do not understand why it would cause the results to differ when a 2 part scan is run separately as opposed to combined. Even though the differences are minor in both your example and mine, they should not exist at all, and they undermine the reliability of the scanning function in the program. If I were not simply taking the results and putting them through further filters in mswin, I would be very concerned. doug
