Re: Asia Warnings

This is sort of a warning? They kind of squeezed it in their earnings release. It seemed significant so I thought I would post it. Kind of a sneaky press release. See their Japan statement. It's a pretty narrow statement. You have to read their press release 4 times for it to make sense.

There is some more typical "We've think we've seen the bottom, blah, blah, blah." But I didn't post it because as usual, they also add another line that makes it worthless. I don't think any company should say anything about their future if it's predicated on what happens in Asia. Makes no sense to do this.

National Semi Q4 bookings off from Q3, Q497
SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 11 (Reuters) - National Semiconductor Corp said its fourth quarter bookings declined compared with both the year-ago quarter and with its third quarter, but the rate of decline slowed in the month of May.

National said the North American market was the most affected, followed by Southeast Asia, and Europe, respectively. Bookings in Japan improved slightly from the poor third quarter of fiscal 1998, but were still down year-over-year. As expected, National reported a loss for its fiscal fourth quarter of $69.3 million, or $0.42 a share, excluding the effects of one-time charges in the quarter ended May 31.
