Bill or any others?

I am interested in kind of mapping out the different carrier backbone networks which comprise the telecom and data networks used by the phone companies for provision of services (e.g. BA's network, Qwest's fiber network, Sprint's ION etc.). I just want a basic idea of what everyone has (ie. 2000 SONET rings connected to 500 ATM switches, connected to 400 data switches). I realize this may be insane to try because of the evolving landscapes and the privacy issues, but perhaps someone already has something done (ie. a magic URL?).
:-) It would be great to get a bird's eye view of everyone's basic structures and where they are going. Any ideas or thoughts?

Thanks
pigboy
