Hmmm, that is interesting! How did I miss that one?

He proposes:

The introduction of " 0 " as ticker marker for any short sale
transaction, inclusive all other data such as found with "-", " +
" and "=".

Not a bad idea, as far as it goes. But I propose a more far-reaching and radical solution, that will go a long way towards shining some disinfecting sunlight into the dark, fetid and diseased pits that are today's equity markets:

I propose the following new ticker markers:

A - sale of a good stock by rational investor, who is selling because he has found a better idea
B - sale of any stock in order to pay taxes
C - sale of poorly-performing stock to claim tax benefit of painful losses
D - purchase of a good stock, under the guidance of a trustworthy investment advisor
E - purchase of any stock simply because it was just mentioned on CNBC
F - purchase made to open account in response to high-pressure sales call
G - purchase of a bad stock by an idiot investor who has no clue
H - purchase of a bad stock by an idiot investor who knows it is bad, but buys it anyway
I - sale of a bad stock by someone who has only just realized how bad
J - short sale of a bad stock by someone who knows what they are doing
K - short sale of a good stock by satanic puppet of the evil Asensio cartel
L - short sale of a good stock by lonely housewife
M - short sale of a good stock gone bad by defrocked priest
N - purchase to cover earlier short of bad stock by satanic puppet
O - purchase under the influence of alcohol
P - any transaction by "Mr Pink"
Q - short sale executed by mistake, usually via E-Trade
R - any transaction by a "Rocketeer"
S - purchase by author of BW's "Inside Wall St" column
T - short sale in response to today's "Heard On The Street" column
U - short sale to offset an existing long, by very sophisticated yet indecisive investor
V - purchase by investor who has visited comapny offices while they are closed
W - short sale by investor who has visited company offices while they are open
Z - purchase of ZITL based on a rumor

These changes if implemented would to a great degree level the playing field for all traders/investors and curtail to a great degree the bad mouthing of companies and products in order to steer traders and investors into anxiety and the surrender of their invested stock.

When people see a lot of GRPLMXCHITEJSMPZOLQZXKDHTS on the tape they will certainly have a much clearer picture of what is going on.

Greedings,

Kevin
