Donald,

OK... I found my way here. :-) What was your question, again? Oh! yes... I remember.

1. What do I think of Jesus. (Germanic/Anglo name? I'm not going to even start on that out of respect for you starting this thread, Jane.)
2. Do I think Jesus' influence has been positive or negative on Western civilization.

I admire the Jesus of the Bible. I do not feel compelled to call him a liar, or a lunatic, or the Lord.

Hmmm... what do I think of Jesus' influence, eh?... That's a tough one... His name has been used for both good and evil purposes (with respect to my set of morals... which is heavily influenced by the morals of Western civilization... which, in turn, is heavily influenced by Christianity... which, in turn, is heavily influenced by both Greek and Hebrew morals and philosophy... and that's as far as I am currently aware.) Clearly, Jesus is a major influence. But how do we even judge whether that influence is positive or negative? Do you think Western civilization as it stands now is better or worse than the Roman world of nearly 2,000 years ago? I'd say it was better. But is that due to Jesus, alone? Hmmm... are the ideas of democracy and freedom due to Jesus?

This is definitely an interesting question. Let's explore it some more. What do you think of the points I've brought up?

Oh... by the way... do you prefer: Don, Donald, Donny, DLL, or what?

Greg
